Law 2: The Law of Motion
Law of Motion → Seeking God: Overcoming Spiritual Inertia
Introduction
Having recognized the relentless downward pull of Spiritual Gravity in Law 1, our exploration now confronts the state of things within that pervasive field: Motion, or more often, its stubborn absence. Sir Isaac Newton, not content with unveiling gravity, also defined the universe’s fundamental resistance to change – the principle of Inertia. 🛑
In the physical realm, this law is simple yet profound: An object at rest stubbornly stays at rest. An object already moving continues that motion, unchanging, unless pushed or pulled by an external force. Nothing starts, stops, or turns without something outside of itself compelling it to do so. The universe, at its core, resists changes to its current state.
Does this deep physical principle echo within the landscape of the soul? Do we not feel a similar resistance?
This Second Law delves into the striking resonance between physical Motion & Inertia and the spiritual reality of Seeking God. We will explore how Sin manifests not only as a downward ‘weight’ but also as a powerful Spiritual Inertia – a tendency keeping souls ‘at rest’ in separation from their Source, or continuing passively on a path away from divine connection, resistant to the effort required for change.
What ‘force’ is needed to overcome this spiritual standstill? How does Divine Grace 🙏 intervene as that essential external impetus? What truly initiates the soul’s movement towards God, against the drift of inertia and the pull of spiritual gravity?
When we later explore Law 2 in full, we will unpack the physics of force and momentum, mapping them onto the spiritual dynamics of repentance, conversion, the fight against complacency, and the active, often arduous, pursuit of the Divine Light ✨. Understanding how to overcome this spiritual inertia is the crucial step after acknowledging the downward pull. Welcome to the essence of Law 2.
