R06: COHERENCE RESTORATION
The Trajectory to Heaven
METADATA

title: "Coherence Restoration"
axioms: [176, 177, 178]
axiom_ids: [R5.1, R5.2, R5.3]
tier: 6
case_file: CF06
defendants: [Annihilationism, No Afterlife, Reincarnation]
priority: MEDIUM
status: IN_PROGRESSTHE CLAIM
Redemption restores coherence with χ_God, putting you on trajectory to eternal maximal coherence. Heaven is C_max—full alignment with God forever. Glorification completes what justification began.
Sin causes decoherence (R01). Grace restores coherence (R03). The redeemed person’s trajectory is now toward C_max, not toward C = 0. Heaven is the final state of maximal coherence with God—and glorification guarantees arrival.
AXIOMS COVERED
| # | ID | Statement | Mathematical Form |
|---|---|---|---|
| 176 | R5.1 | Redemption restores C[ψ_S, χ_God] | Ĝ → C[ψ_S, χ_God]↑ |
| 177 | R5.2 | Trajectory toward C_max | σ = +1 → dC/dt > 0 |
| 178 | R5.3 | Glorification completes restoration | Glorification → C = C_max |
THE PROSECUTION
Against Annihilationism
CHARGE: Annihilationism claims “the unsaved are destroyed, cease to exist—no eternal conscious punishment.”
CROSS-EXAMINATION:
| Q | A | Trap |
|---|---|---|
| ”What happens to ψ_S at death?" | "It ceases to exist…” | But information cannot be destroyed (F02). ψ_S is information pattern. It persists in χ. |
| ”Is non-existence a punishment?" | "Yes, loss of life…” | But you can’t experience non-existence. Punishment requires an experiencer. Annihilation isn’t punishment—it’s escape. |
| ”Why does Jesus speak of ‘eternal punishment’?" | "Eternal means ‘of the age’…” | But Matthew 25:46 uses the same word (αἰώνιος) for “eternal life” and “eternal punishment.” Same duration. |
THE INFORMATION TRAP:
Annihilationism: The soul is destroyed
But: Information is conserved (F02)
ψ_S is information pattern in χ
Destruction of ψ_S would violate conservation
∴ ψ_S cannot be destroyed
∴ It persists—either in C_max (heaven) or C → 0 (hell)
VERDICT: GUILTY of denying information conservation.
Against No Afterlife Views
CHARGE: No Afterlife views claim “death is the end—there is no continuation of consciousness.”
CROSS-EXAMINATION:
| Q | A | Trap |
|---|---|---|
| ”What happens to your Φ at death?" | "It ends…” | But Φ is integrated information. Where does the information go? Information is conserved. |
| ”Is consciousness merely brain function?" | "Yes, it’s neural…” | But brain is interface, not source (H02). Consciousness is ψ_S in χ, not just neurons. |
| ”Why do humans universally sense an afterlife?" | "Wishful thinking…” | Universal intuition across all cultures points to something real. Complete error is unlikely. |
THE INTERFACE TRAP:
No Afterlife: Consciousness ends with brain death
But: Brain is interface to ψ_S (H02)
Interface death ≠ ψ_S death
Radio breaking ≠ broadcast ending
Brain death closes the interface; ψ_S continues in χ
∴ Afterlife is structurally required
VERDICT: GUILTY of confusing interface with source.
Against Reincarnation
CHARGE: Reincarnation claims “the soul cycles through multiple lives—karma determines future incarnation.”
CROSS-EXAMINATION:
| Q | A | Trap |
|---|---|---|
| ”Is identity preserved across lives?" | "The soul continues…” | But you don’t remember past lives. If identity requires memory continuity (personal identity), how is it the same “you”? |
| ”What is the goal of the cycle?" | "Escape from rebirth…” | But escape through effort contradicts self-flip impossibility (D1). You can’t self-achieve liberation. |
| ”Why no clear memory of past lives?" | "Memory is physical…” | If soul is non-physical but memory is physical, what is preserved? The soul without memory is not continuous identity. |
THE IDENTITY TRAP:
Reincarnation: Same soul in different bodies
But: Personal identity requires continuity
No memory continuity across lives
∴ No personal identity preserved
∴ "You" don't reincarnate—something does, but not "you"
VERDICT: GUILTY of dissolving personal identity.
KEY ARGUMENTS
1. Redemption Restores Coherence (R5.1)
Grace brings alignment with God’s pattern.
| Before Redemption | After Redemption |
|---|---|
| C[ψ_S, χ_God] low | C[ψ_S, χ_God] higher |
| Misaligned | Aligning |
| Decoherent | Re-coherent |
| Trajectory → 0 | Trajectory → C_max |
Ĝ → C[ψ_S, χ_God]↑
Redemption doesn't just flip σ
It also restores coherence
Grace repairs the decoherence damage
Alignment with God begins to increase
What coherence restoration means:
- Relationship with God restored
- Mind beginning to renew (Rom 12:2)
- Will beginning to align
- Entire being reorienting toward God
2. Trajectory Toward C_max (R5.2)
The redeemed person is on a heavenward trajectory.
| σ Value | Trajectory |
|---|---|
| σ = -1 | dC/dt < 0 (toward 0) |
| σ = +1 | dC/dt > 0 (toward C_max) |
σ = +1 → dC/dt > 0
For the redeemed:
- Every day, on average, more coherent
- Sanctification is this trajectory
- Direction is set by σ
- Destination is set by direction
Even temporary setbacks don't reverse trajectory
The overall direction is heavenward
Why trajectory matters:
- Destination depends on direction
- Direction depends on σ
- σ = +1 means heaven-bound
- σ = -1 means hell-bound
- Grace changes the trajectory
3. Glorification Completes Restoration (R5.3)
At glorification, coherence reaches its maximum.
| State | Coherence |
|---|---|
| Pre-redemption | C low, falling |
| Post-redemption | C increasing |
| Glorification | C = C_max |
| Heaven | C = C_max (eternal) |
Glorification → C = C_max
At glorification:
- Body resurrected (no more physical limitation)
- Soul fully transformed (no more sin nature)
- Spirit fully united (no more separation)
- Full alignment with χ_God achieved
What glorification accomplishes:
- Sin’s presence removed (not just penalty, not just power)
- Body upgraded (resurrection body)
- Full knowledge (“face to face” - 1 Cor 13:12)
- Perfect communion with God
4. Heaven as C_max
Heaven is the state of maximal coherence with God.
| Earthly State | Heavenly State |
|---|---|
| Partial coherence | Full coherence |
| See through glass darkly | See face to face |
| Know in part | Know fully |
| Imperfect communion | Perfect communion |
Heaven = eternal C_max state
Heaven is not:
- Cloud-sitting boredom
- Disembodied floating
- Endless religious service
Heaven IS:
- Perfect alignment with God
- Full flourishing of the soul
- Maximum Φ for creatures
- Eternal joy, growth, purpose
Heaven’s dynamics:
- Not static (eternal growth possible)
- Not boring (infinite God to explore)
- Not purposeless (meaningful activity)
- Perfect coherence enables perfect flourishing
5. The Contrast: Hell as C → 0
For those who reject grace, trajectory leads to minimal coherence.
| Heaven | Hell |
|---|---|
| C = C_max | C → 0 |
| Full alignment | Full misalignment |
| Perfect coherence | Decoherence |
| Presence of God | Absence of God’s blessing |
σ = -1 (unredeemed) → dC/dt < 0
Without grace:
- Decoherence continues
- Alignment with God decreases
- Trajectory is toward C = 0
- Hell is the asymptotic destination
Hell is not:
- God torturing people
- Arbitrary punishment
Hell IS:
- Natural consequence of σ = -1 trajectory
- Existence without coherence with God
- Self-chosen separation
The two trajectories:
Trajectory 1 (redeemed): C(t) → C_max (heaven)
Trajectory 2 (unredeemed): C(t) → 0 (hell)
The fork is at σ
Grace flips σ from -1 to +1
This changes the trajectory
This determines the destination
6. Eternal Stability
Both states are eternally stable—no switching after death.
| Property | Reason |
|---|---|
| Heaven stable | C_max is attractor for σ = +1 |
| Hell stable | C = 0 is attractor for σ = -1 |
| No switching | σ fixed after death |
After death:
- σ no longer changeable
- Trajectory determines destination
- Destination is permanent
- No second chances post-mortem
Why?
- Faith is earthly response to grace
- After death, no more faith (sight replaces)
- The choice is made in life
- The consequence is eternal
DEFEAT CONDITIONS
This axiom set fails if:
-
Coherence is not restored by grace
- But Scripture describes renewal, transformation
- Believers experience changed desires, perspectives
- New creation (2 Cor 5:17) implies new coherence
- Restoration is evident
-
Trajectory doesn’t lead to C_max
- But glorification is promised (Rom 8:30)
- “He who began a good work will complete it” (Phil 1:6)
- The chain is unbroken
- Completion is guaranteed
-
Afterlife doesn’t exist
- But information is conserved (F02)
- ψ_S cannot be destroyed
- Universal human intuition points to afterlife
- The evidence supports continuation
-
Hell can be escaped
- But Scripture teaches eternal punishment (Matt 25:46)
- Same word for “eternal” used for both heaven and hell
- σ is fixed at death
- Trajectories are stable
Status: All defeat conditions fail against the coherence trajectory model.
DEFENSE GRID
| Attack Vector | Response | Status |
|---|---|---|
| ”Heaven sounds boring” | Boredom is incoherence. Maximum coherence is maximum engagement, not minimum. Infinite God = infinite exploration. | ✅ Blocked |
| ”Eternal punishment is unjust” | Sin against infinite God has infinite weight. And punishment is self-chosen trajectory, not arbitrary torture. | ✅ Addressed |
| ”Why can’t people change after death?” | The choice is made in life. After death, the evidence is complete—“sight” replaces faith. No more decision point. | ✅ Addressed |
| ”What about those who never heard?” | God is just. He judges according to light given. Special cases don’t invalidate general structure. | ✅ Addressed |
| ”Isn’t annihilation more merciful?” | Mercy is offered now (grace). Annihilation would violate information conservation. Reality has constraints. | ✅ Blocked |
EQUATIONS / FORMALISM
Coherence Restoration
Ĝ → C[ψ_S, χ_God]↑
Pre-redemption: C[ψ_S, χ_God] = C_low
Post-redemption: C[ψ_S, χ_God] = C_initial + ∫Ĝ dt
C increases through sanctification
Trajectory Equation
dC/dt = f(σ, Ĝ, effort)
For σ = +1 (redeemed):
dC/dt > 0 (on average)
Trajectory → C_max
For σ = -1 (unredeemed):
dC/dt < 0 (on average)
Trajectory → 0
Glorification
At t = t_glorification:
C → C_max (instantly completed)
Glorification = phase transition to final state
Sanctification asymptotically approaches
Glorification completes instantaneously
Heaven and Hell
Heaven: lim[t→∞] C(t) = C_max (for σ = +1)
Hell: lim[t→∞] C(t) = 0 (for σ = -1)
Both are stable equilibria
No transitions between states
σ determines which attractor
Bimodal Destiny (Preview of R07)
Only two stable states:
1. C = C_max (heaven)
2. C → 0 (hell)
No intermediate stable state
The dynamics force bimodality
CONNECTION TO PHYSICS
| Physical Concept | Coherence Parallel |
|---|---|
| Attractor | C_max and C = 0 as attractors |
| Trajectory | Path through state space |
| Equilibrium | Eternal states as equilibria |
| Irreversibility | Post-death fixation |
| Phase transition | Glorification as sudden completion |
Key insight: In dynamical systems, trajectories approach attractors. The σ value determines which attractor the soul approaches. σ = +1 → heaven (C_max) attractor. σ = -1 → hell (C = 0) attractor. Grace changes σ, which changes the attractor, which changes the eternal destination.
SCRIPTURE
“Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.” — 1 John 3:2
Glorification: we shall be like Him. C → C_max.
“For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.” — 1 Corinthians 13:12
Current partial coherence; future full coherence.
“And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another.” — 2 Corinthians 3:18
Progressive trajectory toward glory.
“And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” — Matthew 25:46
Two destinies, both eternal. Same word (αἰώνιος) for both.
“He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” — Philippians 1:6
Glorification guaranteed for the redeemed.
“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.” — 1 Corinthians 2:9
Heaven exceeds imagination—C_max is beyond current conception.
THE VERDICT
GUILTY
Annihilationism, No Afterlife, and Reincarnation are found GUILTY of misunderstanding the structure of eternal destiny.
- Annihilationism denies information conservation—ψ_S cannot be destroyed
- No Afterlife confuses interface (brain) with source (ψ_S)—consciousness continues
- Reincarnation dissolves personal identity—without memory continuity, “you” don’t return
Redemption restores coherence with God and sets the trajectory toward C_max. Glorification completes what grace began. Heaven is eternal maximal coherence. The alternative—hell—is eternal minimal coherence for those who reject grace.
THE CHAIN HOLDS.
THE LOVE (What You Gain)
L7.10 — Your Future Is Bright
Because trajectory is toward C_max:
- Your best days are ahead
- Present struggles are temporary
- Glory awaits
- The trajectory is set
“For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison.” — 2 Corinthians 4:17
Light affliction → weight of glory.
L7.11 — Completion Is Certain
Because glorification is guaranteed:
- You will arrive
- God finishes what He starts
- Nothing can stop the trajectory
- C_max is your destination
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” — Philippians 1:6
Confidence—not wishful thinking.
L7.12 — Heaven Exceeds Imagination
Because C_max is beyond current conception:
- Heaven isn’t boring—it’s unimaginable
- Not less than earth—infinitely more
- Not restriction—full flourishing
- The best is yet to come
“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared.” — 1 Corinthians 2:9
This is the thirty-second good news: You are on trajectory to something beyond imagination. Grace has changed your direction. Every day, you’re getting closer. Glorification will complete what justification began. Heaven is full coherence with God—maximum flourishing, maximum joy, maximum life. And it’s eternal. Your future is secured. Your destination is certain. The best is yet to come.
