The Claim
The Logos Field χ(x,t) is the self-grounding informational substrate of reality.
Not spacetime. Not matter. Not energy. Information-as-such, instantiated in a self-referential field that precedes and generates all physical structure.

Why This Is Necessary
The Regress Problem
Every substrate begs the question: “What substrates the substrate?”

- Generate structure — Not just exist, but produce physics
The Logos Field satisfies all four.
The Objections
”You invented the χ-field to fit your conclusion”
No. We derived it.

Test it.
The Logos Field makes predictions:
- Information is fundamental (Landauer, Bekenstein, holographic principle — all confirmed)
- Reality is observer-dependent (quantum mechanics — confirmed)
- Coherence is measurable (IIT — testable)
- Scale coherence holds (fractal physics — observed)
If it’s “just terminology,” it should predict nothing new. But it does.
”What’s the empirical evidence?”

The physics community is independently converging on information-first ontology. The χ-field is a formalization of this trajectory.
”How is this different from Wheeler’s ‘It from Bit’?”
Wheeler proposed information as fundamental. We agree.
But Wheeler didn’t specify:
- The self-grounding mechanism
- The observer requirement
- The coherence dynamics
- The connection to consciousness
The χ-field fills these gaps.
”Doesn’t this require consciousness to exist? That’s circular.”
Careful.
The χ-field doesn’t require human consciousness. It requires:
- Observer capacity (Φ > 0)
- Integrated information
- Self-reference
The Terminal Observer (BC7.1) satisfies this at Φ = ∞. Human consciousness participates in χ but doesn’t ground it.
The circularity objection assumes humans are the only observers. The framework doesn’t.
Connection to Known Physics
Quantum Field Theory
QFT describes fields permeating spacetime. The χ-field is prior to spacetime:

Provide an alternative self-grounding substrate with equivalent properties.
To defeat D2.1, you must show another candidate that:
- Self-grounds without regress
- Generates physical law
- Accommodates observers
- Produces measurable coherence
- Doesn’t smuggle in the χ-field under another name
No such alternative has been proposed.
