OBJ-010: “Omnipotence paradox (stone problem)“

Target claim(s)

Any omnipotence claim in the divine tier.

The objection (steelman)

“Can God make a stone so heavy He cannot lift it?” If yes, He cannot lift it; if no, He cannot make it. Therefore omnipotence is incoherent.

Why it seems compelling

It exploits ambiguity about what “can” ranges over (logical vs illogical tasks).

Reply (logic-first)

The paradox asks for a contradiction (“an omnipotent being that lacks power”). Under consistency constraints, contradictions are not admissible targets. Omnipotence is therefore defined as maximal power over logically possible states (see L-023 Omnipotence Excludes Contradictions).

What would change my mind

If the framework ever allows contradictions into the admissible state space, then “omnipotence” becomes meaningless and the objection stands.
